Friday 30th March – Sunday 15th April Smugglers Adventure Tubman Trail
Spot the Easter eggs around the caves, find the Golden Egg and be in with a chance of winning a family annual pass. Stop off on route for some Easter themed colouring and activity sheets.
Friday 30th March – Sunday 15th April Hastings Castle Easter Trail
Spot the Easter eggs around the Castle grounds and unlock the password
Saturday 31st – Easter Egg Hunt – Hastings Castle – 10am
Hastings Castle will be choc-ful of eggs as part of a fun Easter hunt. Hundreds of chocolate eggs are set to be hidden around the grounds and castle and children will have the tasty task of tracking them all down. Organisers are also offering the first 100 children through the door a FREE medium sized boxed Easter egg. Entry is £3 for children under 12 and £1 per adult which includes taking part in the hunt for up to an hour but does not include watching the 1066 Story show or staying in the castle beyond that time. Babes in arms are free of charge. There is no need to book in advance as you can just turn up on the day. Organisers are advising people to wear sensible footwear as the ground is uneven and could be wet. The under 5’s hunt will begin at 10.15am with the main event starting at 10.30am. CASH ONLY.
Thursday 5th April – Hysterical History Workshop ‘Pirates In The Caves’ – Smugglers Adventure – 10am – 4pm
Commander Blunt will be set up in the caves ready for some hands on learning, so you can drop in at any point throughout the day and learn all about the history of piracy in these interactive sessions. This event is included in the standard admission price, book online to save money. Also take part in the extra parrot quest trail and pirate colouring activities.
Saturday 12th May – Torchlight Tour – Smugglers Adventure – 5pm – 6pm
Our special torchlight tour offers a spooky and highly atmospheric insight into the history of the underground tunnels; including their use as a military hospital for Wellington’s troops during the Napoleonic Wars and as an air-raid shelter in World War II. A maximum of 30 people are taken on a dramatic exploration of the caves, which cover a total area in excess of five square kilometres, in the company of an expert guide whose flickering lantern provides the only illumination. The tour will run from 5pm-6pm and must be booked in advance. Please call 01424 422964 to book your space.
Monday 28th May – Dinosaur Day – Hastings Castle – 10am – 3pm
Due to the huge success of Dragon Day in 2017, this year Dinosaurs are taking over the grounds of Hastings Castle. You can meet 4ft animatronic Dinosaur, Pete and his friends on May Bank Holiday. There will also be arts, crafts and face painting. The team at Hysterical History are hosting an interactive archaeology workshop with Dr Digby Rocks who will be teaching children how to dig up and evaluate dinosaurs, fossils and artefacts from history. Bring a picnic and take in the beautiful surroundings of Britain’s first Norman Castle. This event is included in the standard admission price. Please note the Castle is cash only.
26th May – 3rd June – Hairy Jack Trail – Smugglers Adventure
Can you help Hairy Jack find the answers to the questions hidden around the caves?
Saturday 28th July – Petting Zoo and Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Hastings Castle – 10am – 3pm
This event debuted in 2017 and was hugely popular. Meet the petting zoo animals including Lambs, Goats, Rabbits and Ducklings! Enjoy circle time games on the main lawn, face painting, crafts and storytelling with the Deep Dark Wood Monster. Don’t forget your picnic! This event is included in the standard admission price, please note the Castle is CASH ONLY.
Saturday August 4th – Hysterical History Workshop ‘Fantastic bombs and where to find them’ – Smugglers Adventure – 10am – 4pm
The ever popular team at Hysterical History are back with their hands on workshops. Let them show you and explain what life was like during ww2 for many an a evacuee and bomb disposal operative. Have you got what it takes to defuse his bomb? Do you know what to do in an air raid? Pop in on these interactive sessions throughout the day. This event is included in the standard admission price, book online to save money.
