Half Term and Reopening 'Hairy Jack' Event

Notorious smuggler ‘Hairy Jack’ will be leading the celebrations as Smugglers Adventure re-opens for a new season during the February Half Term Holidays (February 11th-19th).
Younger visitors are invited to follow ‘Hairy Jack’s trail through the underground caverns, passages and tunnels on a voyage back through time to the heyday of smuggling.
There will also be a themed quiz available for all visitors to test their skills.
“It’s always an exciting time when we re-open the caves to the public for the first time after the winter break,” said Smugglers Adventure’s Leanna Lawson.
“ ‘Hairy Jack’ and the team can’t wait to welcome new guests!” she added.
Deep in the heart of Hastings West Hill lies the Smugglers Adventure, acres of caverns that conceal the thrilling history of smugglers, bootleggers and warring bloodthirsty gangs.
Explore the labyrinth of secret tunnels and passages and discover the dangers and hardships faced by Sussex smugglers of the eighteenth century.
More than 70 life-size characters, interactive displays, eerie lighting and sound effects and dramatic recreations bring this mysterious and often bloody world vividly to life.
Learn the tricks of the trade in the interactive games area, enjoy an illustrated history in the subterranean theatre and come face to face with real artefacts in the fascinating smuggling museum.
Hastings Castle is also opening for the February Half Term Holidays before re-opening fully in April.
