TORCHLIGHT TOUR AT SMUGGLERS ADVENTURE – JUNE

Smugglers Adventure in Hastings is hosting its second Torchlight Tour of 2017 following the event’s huge success.
The tour, planned for Saturday June 10th, offers a spooky and highly atmospheric insight into the history of the underground cave attraction; including its use as a military hospital for Wellington’s troops during the Napoleonic Wars and as an air-raid shelter in World War II.
The event, which will run from 5pm-6pm, takes a maximum of 30 people on a dramatic exploration of the caves, which covers a total area in excess of five square kilometres.
Guests will be accompanied by an expert guide whose flickering lantern provides the only illumination.
Smugglers Adventure’s Leanna Lawson, said: “We can’t wait to host the next Torchlight Tour, especially as past tours have been so popular.
“We are advising people to book soon as there are only a limited number of spaces and all previous tours have sold out.”
The tour begins in the 45-metre long Monk’s Walk with its 23 pairs of arched candle niches. Tickets must be booked in advance.
Visitors learn all about the bizarre re-discovery of the caves by the Victorian Joseph Golding and the geology which enabled them to form in the first place.
From mysterious carved figures to the spectacular ballroom, royal visits to ghostly apparitions, the torchlight tours offer the perfect combination of thrills and chills.

  • The next available tour is on Saturday, June 10th at 5pm-6pm. Tickets £10 per person (participants must be aged 12 or over). Only 30 spaces available. Book now by calling 01424 718776 or email [email protected]. Payment must be made in advance before Friday 2nd June.
