Smugglers Adventure
Smugglers Adventure is an underground network or ancient caves and caverns, filled with secret tunnels that were once used by the smugglers of Hastings – using these hidden caves and passageways to store and organise illegally traded goods from across the seas.
This experience is underground and is therefore all undercover, however it can be both cold and dark. We have atmospheric lighting and lots of life life sculptures to bring this experience to life!
We also have a shop so you can take away some smuggling memorabilia!

What Is Discover Hastings?
We’re two separate attractions located in the heart of Hastings. The two attractions consist of Hastings Aquarium & Smugglers Adventure.
Visitors can choose to visit any one or two of our attractions – and in whatever order suits them!

Hastings Aquarium
Teeming with marine life, Hastings Aquarium is home to hundreds of different species from across the World’s waters. Head through the underwater tunnel and admire colourful fish swimming over your head! Its beautifully themed and filled with a huge variety of shapes and sizes – we even have a collection of reptiles!
All indoors and with a shop and café onsite, we’re the perfect all-weather attraction!

Smugglers Adventure Caves is located on Hastings’ West Hill, overlooking the Old Town and seafront. Visitors can reach us by the West Hill Cliff Railway, on foot via signposted paths, or by car via the A259 or A21. Parking is available on Priory Road and nearby residential streets. Hastings Station is around a 20-minute walk away, with regular train and bus services. Alternative walking and driving routes are available if the cliff railway is closed.

There are 40 steps down to the entrance of the attraction. Due to the attraction being set inside a natural cave, there are many uneven floors, a low tunnel, and slippery surfaces, making the caves inaccessible by wheelchair. Pushchairs are not permitted inside but can be left in the buggy park. We recommend bringing a baby sling should you need one.
